Flood waters receding in Dumont

DUMONT (KWWL) -- Butler County Emergency Management says the flood waters in Dumont are finally starting to recede.

Mitch Nordmeyer, Butler County Emergency Management Director, says the West Fork of the Cedar River began receding at around 4:00 Monday morning and is continuing to fall.

Gary Bierman, Dumont Fire Chief, has closed the emergency center at the Dumont Fire Station saying it's no longer necessary.

Residents are reminded that sand bags should be considered contaminated and disposed of behind City Hall.

This is the second round of flooding the city has seen in as many weeks.
