Flooding expected near Des Moines

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Drier weather is on the way, but many Iowa rivers are swelling.

And some water is already spilling over the banks.

Major flooding is expected along the Des Moines river downstream of Saylorville Reservoir.

Water is expected to push over the spillway Wednesday.

River levels at Second Avenue in Des Moines are forecasted to reach 29 feet.

Polk County Emergency Management is telling people to prepare for potential flooding by Wednesday.
