Disagreement on Pap Test Screening advice

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A new study finds disagreement among doctors on how often to screen for Cervical Cancer.

Researchers from the CDC surveyed over 1,200 physicians about their screening recommendations.

For a monogamous 35-year old woman with three normal pap results, one third of doctors recommended waiting three years for another screening, while another third still wanted another test in a year.

Researchers believe most doctors overscreen for Cervical Cancer, which they say is not cost effective and that annual testing does not improve outcomes for patients.
