Dubuque contractor charged with failing to complete airport work

GRANT COUNTY, WI (KWWL) -- A Dubuque man is charged with failing to complete work on the Airport in Platteville, Wisconsin.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department says 39-year-old Peter Eck, owner of Equity Builders, was paid $192,600 by the City of Platteville to do the work after being hired in 2007.  Authorities say Eck failed to do that work.

Airport officials say he was supposed to build new hangers, but didn't have the proper permits, didn't build them to code, and walked off before completion.

Airport Manager Jim Hughes says the hangers were finished by another contractor, who had to tear down the work already done by Eck.  The airport is out the $192,600, and wants it back.

Peter Eck is scheduled in court July 26th.  If convicted, he faces a fine of not more than $10,000, or imprisonment not to exceed six years or both.
