Two more counties now eligible for storm damage funds

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- The Governor added Hancock and Wright counties Wednesday to a disaster emergency proclamation.

The proclamation is in response to recent severe weather.

According to Gov. Culver's office, the disaster proclamation covers Ringgold, Union, Taylor, Hancock and Wright counties. The proclamation authorizes the State Individual Assistance Grant Program to help eligible residents in those counties. That program can provide as much as $5,000 in reimbursements for storm-related damages to people whose income is below 200 percent above the poverty level.

The Governor's office said grant application information will be available Thursday on the Department of Human Services' Web site. People can also call 877-937-3663.
