Storms rip through eastern Iowa

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Powerful storms blew through eastern Iowa Wednesday morning causing damage.

People on Ansbrough had a rude awakening as uprooted trees took out power lines.

Waterloo police say people should be careful as areas without power have temporary stop signs up and there is debris on roads in the southwest part of the city.

As of 7:30 Wednesday morning, about 5000 people were still without power in Waterloo.

Waterloo firefighters say they are simply trying to keep up with the calls.

We have also received reports of three houses damaged, two barns blown down and another house shifted off it's foundation due to high winds near Tripoli.
