Waterloo police eyeing new bullet-proof vests

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL)--- The Waterloo City Council is considering the purchase of new police equipment.  Every few years, the police department makes a request to buy new bullet-proof vests because the kevlar material in the vests becomes worn out.  And while the department hopes the vests are never needed, they're very important to have.

"The vests have shown that countless officer lives have been saved because they were wearing vests," Waterloo police chief Dan Trelka said.

The police department will now review bids it received for the new vests and present one for approval to the council at a future meeting.
