Flood meetings focus on future

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- It's been two years since the devastating floods of 2008 tore through our viewing area. Monday afternoon, city and states officials as well as flood effected residents met with experts about ways to prepare and prevent floods in the future. With the wet weather we've all seen lately, organizers say this is an opportunity to share ideas.

"That's part of the message tonight, is that its in our hands. Help make for a more resilient Iowa when it comes to floods," Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research Community Outreach Educator, Joe Bolkcom said.

Attendees received a free copy of 'A Watershed Year: Anatomy of the Iowa floods of 2008.' It's a book written be more than 25 authors, recapping the floods.

By the way the group is meeting in Waverly next week.
