Arlington man pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting child

ARLINGTON (KWWL) -- An Arlington man, arrested and charged with First Degree Sexual Assault, has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a child.

Ricky Lee Putman, 41, was arrested on May 23, 2010, after deputies were told of a child who had been sexually assaulted.

Police responded to the call in the 600 block of Main Street. They investigated two homes and collected several bags of evidence.

Sheriff officials say the child was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein and later taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for injuries. The child's condition has not been released.

Putman's pre-trial hearing is set for July 19, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. and his trial is scheduled for August 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
