3000 bikers take to the Fayette streets

FAYETTE (IOWA) -- One North Eastern Iowa town was taken over by motorcycles Saturday.

Fayette blocked off several streets for the Romper Room Ride.

About 3,000 bikers came to town for the motorcycle rally.

Most of the riders started in Earlville before heading Northwest.

This was the first Romper Room Rally hosted by Fayette.

"We had assurances from other towns where Romper room has gone through before that this is a great bunch to work with and so we weren't afraid it was going to be like Martin Brando and the Wild One and all that sort of thing," said Fayette Betterment Foundation President Doug McReynolds.

Fayette had a band play on Main Street, and local vendors enjoyed having the extra people.
