Iowa State Basketball Gets Southern Illinois Transfer

(Ames)(KWWL) The Iowa State men's basketball team improved its depth in the post with the addition of Southern Illinois transfer Anthony Booker, a 6-8, 230-pound forward who averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore for the Salukis last season. Booker signed a financial aid agreement to attend Iowa State University next year.

A native of Florissant, Mo., Booker will sit out next season and have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2011-12 campaign.
"Anthony brings immediate size, strength and most of all experience to our front line," Hoiberg said. "A year sitting out will really help the overall development of his game and we are looking forward to watching Anthony make an immediate impact the following season."
Booker started six games, recorded two double-doubles and ranked fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference in blocked shots at 1.0 bpg in the 2009-10 season. He shot 48.4 percent (77-159 FG) from the field and posted nine double-digit scoring outings to help him make the MVC's All-Bench team.
