Cedar Rapids considers new City Manager

Jeff Pomeranz Jeff Pomeranz

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) – The City Council will consider hiring Jeff Pomeranz as the next city manager of the City of Cedar Rapids at its meeting on Tuesday. Mr. Pomeranz currently serves as the City Manager for the City of West Des Moines. If he is hired, he will begin his duties in Cedar Rapids in September.

"Jeff Pomeranz has a proven track record," said Mayor Ron Corbett. "He has served as a professional city manager for three other cities over the past 25 years. I am confident in his ability to tackle large projects, especially the economic development and flood recovery projects we're tackling in our city."

Prior to his service to the City of West Des Moines, Mr. Pomeranz served as the City Manager in Port Angeles, Washington for eight years and as the City Manager of Del Rio, Texas for five years. He was appointed by Iowa Governor Chet Culver to lead the I-Jobs Board two years ago. He is a board member for the Iowa City Management Association and the Iowa League of Cities. He received a B.A. in Political Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1980 and an M.P.A. from the University of Alabama in 1982.
