Vitamin B-6 & Lung Cancer

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A new study suggests Vitamin B-6 could play a large role in preventing Lung Cancer.  A European study of nearly 400,000 adults found having above average blood levels of Vitamin B-6 and an amino acid called Methionine, reduced the risk for Lung Cancer by 50-percent, even among smokers or people who used to smoke.

Vitamin B-6 is available in supplement form or is found in fortified cereal, beans and meat. Methionine is found in most protein-rich foods.

The study also showed a lower risk for Lung Cancer among smokers or former smokers who had high levels of Folate, another type of "B" vitamin.
