Four Oaks Hopes to Win $100,000 Walmart Grant

With a $ 100,000 grant on the line, Four Oaks hopes to win it all. The dedicated child welfare agency, based in Cedar Rapids, is one of just five statewide non-profit organizations selected for this year's competition in the Walmart Foundation's Associate Choice Program.

The Walmart Foundation of Bentonville, Arkansas, sponsors the annual Associate Choice Program in all fifty states. Walmart associates have the final say in July and August. Thousands of Walmart associates will use their employee benefits website to cast a vote and select the winners.

Using just thirty-words, Four Oaks submitted a description of its agency and programs. The other non-profit contenders have done the same. From July 7 through August 13, Walmart associates will read about the non-profit agencies. Walmart urges each employee to cast a vote for the non-profit the employee feels is most deserving of a $ 100,000 grant from The Walmart Foundation. The $ 100,000 grant winners will be announced at the conclusion of Walmart associate voting.

Four Oaks helps more than 14,000 Iowa children and families every year through its many child welfare and juvenile assistance programs. Four Oaks has also been a major help with the Iowa's Child adoption news series on KWWL-TV since 1981, when the Iowa's Child program first began airing on KWWL-TV.
