Mediacom phone problems fixed

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Mediacom says issues that phone customers have experienced over the past few days have been fixed, but say more maintenance will be done Saturday morning.

KWWL received numerous calls and e-mails from the Waterloo and Cedar Rapids areas saying they were having problems with their Mediacom phone service.

Phyllis Peters, Communications Director, says there was an issue with a regional server in Waterloo that caused problems in parts of Waterloo, Cedar Rapids and southern Minnesota.

Peters says the problems were intermittent and prevented modems and customer equipment from normally rebooting and keeping communications active between the modem and the Mediacom server.

She says Cisco engineers and Mediacom network engineers have resolved the issue, but further maintenance will be done in the early morning hours of Saturday.

If you are still experiencing problems, Mediacom says you should reset your modem by unplugging it from the wall, waiting 30 seconds and plugging it back in.

If you still experience problems after that, call Mediacom customer service at 877-387-8087.
