Students learn how to excavate archaeological sites while exploring the history of Black Hawk county.

Professor Dr. Don Gaff says they've found some great old artifacts -- like a spear point that's likely 7000 years old. But, he says most of the work is focused on a campsite at Heartman Reserve that dates between 300 and 700 A.D.
