Grassley named "Hardest Working Member of Congress"

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- A newspaper in the nation's capital has named Senator Charles Grassley as the hardest working member of Congress.

The Hill surveyed lawmakers, aides and other officials to make the determination.

The newspaper says that Grassley's "work on government oversight remains consistent regardless of which party controls 1600 Pennsylvania Ave."

This announcement follows Grassley's ranking of 16th on a list of the 100 most influential people in business ethics by the Ethisphere Institute.

In an interview with Senator Grassley today, he said while it's an honor, it doesn't mean much because he believes he has the hardest working staff on Capitol Hill and they are the reason he is as successful as he is.

Senator Grassley has helped expose insider trading in the Securities and Exchange Commission and his been instrumental in drafting legislation to protect "whistle blowers".

He also provided aggressive oversight of the financial bailout, including  appointing an independent Inspector General to oversee the program.

Max Baucus of Montana, came in second.
