Arraignment set in Iowa kidnapping

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- A man accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a convenience store clerk in Cedar Rapids is to be arraigned on June 22.

Keith Elson Jr., of Cedar Rapids, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual abuse in Linn County District Court.

Elson is accused of kidnapping the clerk at knife point from the Kwik Shop in the early-morning hours of May 17. Police found the woman and Elson at his apartment about seven hours later.

The Associated Press does not identify victims of sex crimes.

The clerk was treated and released from the hospital the next day. Elson, who was stabbed in the chest, spent a week in the hospital. Investigators haven't said how he was stabbed.
