Johnson County testing tornado sirens

JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -- Tornado sirens were going off in Johnson County Monday morning, but there were no storms in sight. It wasn't an accident -- the county was testing their new tornado system.

The new system uses a different type of radio frequency and is more localized. The tests have been going on since February. The new system will go live on July 1st.
