Dragon boat races help close out My Waterloo Days

WATERLOO (KWWL)--- Sunday afternoon's beautiful weather brought hundreds of people out to George Wyth State Park.  They were all taking in the sights of the annual dragon boat races as part of My Waterloo Days.  A dozen teams from all over the state competed in the event.  For them to perform well, rowers need strong upper bodies and good teamwork skills.

"Basically there are 20 people to a boat.  We have 18 paddlers, a drummer, and a steersman.  It's a real tough time to get down that track," said Mike Reyhons, co-chair of the 2010 dragon boat races.

The dragon boat races wrapped up late Sunday afternoon.  Prizes were awarded to the winning team.  And a cash prize was given to the team with the best spirit.
