Roberts stumps in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Decision 2010 brought Republic gubernatorial candidate Rod Roberts to Waterloo Thursday.  Roberts talked with supporters about his qualifications to be Iowa's top leader, including his past experience as a state legislator.  Roberts feels the economy, and state budget, will be the two largest issues at stake as voters head to the polls for Tuesday's primary.

"Chet Culver has spent way too much money as governor.  I will address that by adhering to the 99 percent spending limitation law.  And working with the legislature, we will find areas in the budget to cut spending," Roberts said.

Roberts is by many accounts considered the underdog among Republican candidates for the governor's post.  But Roberts claims his campaign has been picking up momentum in recent weeks, and he remains optimistic that he'll be able to clench the party's nomination.
