Car burglar helps catch himself

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo car owner flagged police down Saturday to report that his car had been broken into and that a cell phone and shirt were stolen.  The car owner also found a wallet in the car that did not belong to him.

Police traced the wallet to 20-year-old Zachory Yezek later that evening.  Yezek was taken to the sheriff's office for an interview where police say he admitted to the theft.  Yezek said once he found out police were after him, he got rid of the stolen property.  During the theft, Yezek was unaware that his wallet had fallen out into the owner's car.

Yezek is charged with third degree burglary and is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
