OELWEIN (KWWL) -- Oelwein's fire chief says a house that is somewhere in the process of being sold was destroyed by fire on Monday.

Crews were called to 207 7th Avenue just before 1:00 Monday morning.

Chief Rundle says they initially were told that someone was inside the home, but discovered that no one was home at the time of the fire.

He says the fire started in the garage, but they are not sure what started it.  He says they don't suspect arson.

Rundle says the deed holder to the home is Kathleen Bouck, but Ray Ohl and his son were living there and were in the process of buying it.

No one was injured and the American Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter is helping Ohl and his son with food, clothing and a temporary place to live.
