Man assaulted while talking to police

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- A man that says he was assaulted in Iowa City Tuesday morning, was assaulted a second time while talking to police dispatch.

The man called Iowa City Police dispatch just before 2:00 Tuesday morning to report that he had been punched while in the ped mall.

He told dispatchers that he was following the person.

While he was talking to dispatchers, police say a friend of the first assailant, punched him, knocking him to the ground.

The first suspect is described as a white male, around 19 or 20 years old, between 5'6" and 6'2", wearing a gray or white shirt and gray shorts.  He was last seen walking north on Clinton Street, from Washington Street, with a woman.

The second suspect is described as a white male between 18 and 19 years old.  He was last seen going east on Washington Street.

The victim was treated at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for what police are calling minor injuries to his head.
