Bucks prepare for opener

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Bucks are back in town.  Waterloo opens their 2010 campaign on Wednesday hosting the Wisconsin Rapids.

Wednesday will also be the debut for new Bucks' field manager Jason Nell.  Nell has been the head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College the past 8 seasons.

It's not his first go around in the Northwood's League, either.  Nell was named coach of the year after leading the Mankato Moondogs to the playoffs in 2008.

Despite that, Nell says coaching in the NWL is a challenge, especially since a manager has virtually no opportunity between the time the players arrive and take the field for the first time, to really learn how to play together.

"It's tough, it's kind of what we do in college.  It's the same thing," says Nell, "Now it's in front of 4,000 people or so, now it's a different level, and it's a different philosophy.  It's not rocket science or anything like that.  It's just trying to get them together and playing a certain way of baseball."
