Iowa Renaissance Festival

MIDDLE AMANA (KWWL) -- Around 300 medieval performers will be in the Amana Colonies this weekend for the annual Iowa Renaissance Festival.

The festival includes 78 shows and activities--including jousting, reenactment camps, Shakespeare plays, and more.

Festivals International Organizer Greg Schmidt said that 2/3 of the festival is education and 1/3 is considered fantasy and fun.

"We're spanning the globe from the 1200's to the 1600's bringing you an experience from Robin Hood to an experience with the three musketeers.  So we've got it all covered here," Schmidt said.

Performers come from all over the Midwest.

The festival started Saturday and will continue through Monday.
