Elkader bank reopens after flood

ELKADER (KWWL) -- FreedomBank will be opening the doors of their new Elkader office after recovering from the floods of 2008.

FreedomBank was flooded by the Turkey River and completely lost its building to the waters on June 10, 2008.  The bank continued business for 16 months out of a trailer and by relocating some of its workers to other locations.

The bank later bought two adjoining properties that did not suffer flood damage as the site for their new bank.  The flooded site now serves as a parking lot and a geothermal field.

The new FreedomBank is located at 210 South Main Street and will reopen on June 10 with an open house from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
