Experts say yoga is safe for pregnant women -- and the benefits outweigh any risks.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons says yoga is a good fitness alternative that allows women to build strength and flexibility safely --if-- it's practiced correctly.

As a pregnant woman's body changes, she must alter her yoga moves -- and working with a qualified instructor to help with these changes is key.

Experts recommend women be in control of their body and should get into a resting pose if any moves cause pain.

And they say women should always consult their doctor before beginning a yoga program.
