West Union man dies after motorcycle accident

WEST UNION (KWWL) -- A West Union man was killed Wednesday after being thrown from his motorcycle.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office were called to an accident on Highway 56, about 3 miles southeast of West Union, at around 5:00 Wednesday evening.

Police say Andrew Meyer, 29, of West Union, was driving a pick-up pulling a grain vac.

They say when Meyer turned onto 200th Street, a motorcycle driven by Martin Johnson, 52, of West Union, tried to pass Meyer and hit the grain vac.

Johnson and his wife, Dawn Johnson, 44, were thrown from the motorcycle.

They were both taken to Palmer Lutheran Hospital and later airlifted.

Martin Johnson died later on from his injuries at a Waterloo hospital.

His wife remains in critical condition.
