Tough Job: Farmer Rick

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL)-- As part of KWWL's Iowa's Toughest Jobs series, Rick Coleman stepped away from his role as the sports director to spend some time on a family farm in Black Hawk County.

Rick spent a couple of hours working the fields with the Youngblut family. 88 year old Earl Youngblut started the family farm nearly 60 years ago. On the 16-hundred acre farm, the family grows corn and soybeans.

Technology inside tractors has sure changed over the years. Rick got a look inside the machines to find cd players, air conditioning, and even a GPS system that helps tractors literally drive themselves. The Youngblut's say though the new tractors are costly, they save farmers time and money while working in the fields. The tough part is often watching the stock market, and seeing the prices go up or down in a matter of days.
