One dead following Ogden standoff

OGDEN (KWWL) -- Authorities say one man is dead after a 5-hour standoff that ended in gunfire in Boone County.

Sheriff Ronald Fehr says officers were called to a home in Ogden around 9 p.m. Tuesday on a harassment call. When they arrived, a man armed with a gun came to the door.

Fehr says authorities tried to negotiate with the man, but he didn't respond.

Fehr says about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities fired a concussion grenade inside the house, and deputies went inside.

Fehr says when deputies went to the second floor, they were shot at, and deputies returned fire, hitting the man.

The man, who was not identified, died at the scene.

The sheriff's office said Wednesday morning that no additional information had been released.
