Rubashkin's federal sentencing delayed

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -- A federal judge has postponed the sentencing of a former kosher slaughterhouse manager convicted of federal fraud.

Sholom Rubashkin was to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids on Thursday. Judge Linda Reade on Monday reset sentencing for June 22.

Rubashkin was convicted of 86 counts in November. He was charged following a May 2008 immigration raid at the former Agriprocessors plant in Postville.

Prosecutors have asked for a 25-year sentence. Defense attorneys wants a six-year sentence.

Rubashkin is currently on trial in Waterloo on 83 state counts of child labor violations connected with the meat packing plant.
