FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) -

A jury has found 42-year-old Ricky Lee Putman guilty of first degree sexual assault after he sexually assaulted a child who was then hospitalized with injuries.

On May 23, 2010, the Fayette County Sheriff responded to a sexual assault call in Arlington. They were told a child was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, and later to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, with injuries from a sexual assault.

After gathering evidence from two different homes, Putman was charged with first degree sexual assault.

A Fayette County jury found Putman guilty on Monday. He will be sentenced on Dec. 29.
