IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- An Iowa City man arrested in April for public intoxication, now faces a criminal mischief charge for spray painting Dubuque Street.

An officer on patrol spotted Joseph Jenkins Honsey, 23, spray painting Dubuque Street just after 4:00 on the morning of April 9th.

When the officer stopped his car, Honsey threw down the spray can and ran into his house.

After making contact with Honsey, he admitted to the officer that he was the one painting the road.

The officer told Honsey that he would have to pay for the damage and told him if he was caught outside again, he would be arrested for public intoxication.

The officer arrested Honsey for public intoxication.

Honsey was charged on Monday for 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief for spray painting the street.
