Arrests made in Waterloo liquor store robberies

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Waterloo Police have arrested five people in connection with two robberies at the Elite Liquor Store last December.

The first happened around 6:07 p.m. on December 8, 2009.

According to police, two people entered the store at 1309 Lafayette Street armed with guns.  One of the people fired a shot inside the store and left with an undisclosed amount of money. 

Police arrested Jacquiere Chaimone Burnside and Ladarius Daquan Hawthorne, both 16-years old.

Burnside is charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owners Consent. Police say he was armed with a shotgun during the robbery and drove the getaway car, which had been stolen earlier.

Hawthorne is charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree.  They say he fired a .22 rifle during the robbery.  

The second robbery happened at around 11:25 p.m. on December 22, 2009.

Police say two suspects entered the store armed with guns and demanded money.  Again, one of the suspects fired a shot in the business and the suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Jacquiere Chaimone Burnside is charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree for this robbery as well.

Police also arrested Telly Lawon Nix, 19, Adrian Reese Walker, 17, and Aimee Marie Bowers, 18, in connection with the second robbery.

All three are charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree.

Police determined that Walker was a lookout during the robbery and Bowers drove the getaway car.
