NEW PHOTOS: Crowds gather in Cedar Rapids for Biden visit

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Green Square Park in Downtown Cedar Rapids is a flurry of activity this afternoon as supporters of Governor Culver listen to a speech from Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden is the headliner of a rally in support of Culver's re-election campaign.

Culver officially launched his re-election campaign in Des Moines on Monday. Culver and Lt. Governor Patty Judge plan to travel to 41 counties in Iowa over five days to launch their campaign.

Today's event has several streets closed in the area.

      - 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenues SE between 3rd Street and 6th Street
      - 5th Street from 2nd Avenue to 5th Avenue
      - No parking will be permitted in this area
      - Meters will be hooded and no parking signs will be posted
