Cedar Rapids sex offender pleads guilty

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A Cedar Rapids man has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender.

Michael Lee Bevins, 43, was convicted of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse in Black Hawk County.

Bevins admitted in Cedar Rapids Federal Court on Monday that he failed to register in Iowa as a sex offender after interstate travel, which is required.

He will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals until his sentencing which has not been set.

Bevins faces a maximum 10 years in prison, $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment and a lifetime term of supervised release.
