Victim of Marshall Co. car fire identified

MELBOURNE (KWWL) - Authorities in Marshall County have identified the victim of a car fire near Melbourne in central Iowa.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that 48-year-old Charles William Hall of Collins was the driver who died in the fire early Sunday. Officials say emergency crews found Hall when they responded to a report of a car fire just off Iowa Highway 330. He was taken to a Marshalltown hospital where he died.

Authorities say they don't know the cause of the fire. It remains under investigation with assistance from the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office.
