Hoiberg retains Rutter at Iowa State

Posted:

AMES (KWWL) -- New Iowa State basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced that Jeff Rutter will be retained as the Cyclones Director of Basketball Operations.

Rutter had been an assistant under former coach Greg McDermott for the past four seasons.  He was moved into the operations role by McDermott in April and will remain there under Hoiberg.

"Jeff has been invaluable in helping me get acclimated in my first week on the job," Hoiberg said. "He is extremely organized and has an outstanding working knowledge of Iowa State and the State of Iowa. I am happy he will continue to be an important part of the ISU basketball program."

Rutter began his coaching career as an assistant at North Dakota State in 1990 and was a head coach at Wisconsin-Parkside from 1996-2003. He first joined McDermott at Northern Iowa in 2003.
