Students compete in Solar Olympics

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - Local middle school students Thursday competed with a little help from the sun.

More than 60 students from Don Bosco, North Winneshiek and Starmont schools competed at the Solar Olympics Thursday at UNI's Center for Energy and Environmental Education.

The students raced solar cars, cooked in solar ovens and participated in a solar-art project.

"We care because we're the next generation. If we use up all our energy then we don't have anything," said Starmont student Michaela Conklin.
