Megabus launches Iowa City service

IOWA CITY (KWWL)--  Passengers looking to get from Iowa City to Chicago directly can now do so.  For merely a dollar.

Megabus launched its service Tuesday which connects Des Moines to Chicago via Iowa City.  It figures to be an attractive option for many, including University of Iowa students who call the Chicagoland area home.  Seats can be reserved for anywhere from $1 to $23, based on when tickets are booked.  The company expects to see plenty of ridership from students looking for a cheaper way home.

"Being an ex-college student myself I know that iIwas just looking for a break and time to get away from school and now we've given an affordable opportunity for the students to do so and the local residents as well," Midwest Operations Director Matt Eggert said.

Megabus offers two round trip busses seven days a week.  All buses are equipped with wi-fi capabilities, outlets to plug in electronics, and reclining seats.  Megabus currently operates in 20 cities in the Midwest.
