More flood-damaged homes being torn down

LINN COUNTY (KWWL)-- By the end of May, 11 remaining flood-damaged buyout properties in unincorporated Linn County will be torn down.

Those homes are in Cedar Rapids, Ely, Palo, Mount Vernon, and Coggon.

Demolition is scheduled to start Monday morning. 14 properties were on the buyout list. The first three came down in April.

The Federal Emergency Management Administration is paying for most of the demolition.

The state is picking up 10 percent portion and a community block grant will pay 15 percent.

Linn County will maintain the land as green space.
