Car found in the Cedar River leads to charges

LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -- Two people are facing charges after a car was found in the Cedar River early Thursday morning.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says they were called to a one car accident in the 3500 block of Ellis Road just after 1:00 Thursday morning.

Deputies found a red 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix sitting on its top in the water.

The owner of the car, Brandy Cason, 23, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and another occupant, Kelli Butler, 23, of Marion, had left the scene before deputies arrived.

The two were found a short time later, but deputies could not determine which one was driving at the time of the accident.

The sheriff's department says Cason and Butler were found drunk in a public place and were charged with Public Intoxication.

Neither Cason or Butler were injured in the accident.
