Homicide investigation in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY (KWWL) -- Central Iowa authorities are investigating a homicide.

Early Tuesday morning, the Warren County sheriff's office got a call about a man leaning over the side of a bridge on Highway 65 south of Indianola.

When deputies arrived, they found 19-year-old Benjamin Backstrom. The Drake University sophomore was taken to an area hospital and later died.

The DCI is now investigating. They're calling it a homicide and are waiting on results of an autopsy for more information.

They're asking for anyone who was driving in that area Monday night into Tuesday morning to call the Warren County sheriff's office.
