Waterloo tow truck driver busted for theft

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo tow truck driver is in jail, accused of stealing things from vehicles towed by his employer.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's says they received a report back on April 7th that a box of coffee had been taken from a car towed by Mount's Towing of Waterloo at the request of the sheriff's department.

Deputies were able to confirm this was true because every vehicle towed by the sheriff's department is inventoried.

After an investigation, deputies found out that a GPS unit was taken from a second vehicle that was towed by Mount's Towing.

Dennis Okland, 47, of Waterloo, was arrested Tuesday and charged with Burglary To A Motor Vehicle and two counts of Theft in the 5th Degree.

Okland has been a tow truck driver for Mount's Towing since December 2008.
