No decision on Iowa City superintendent job

IOWA CITY (KWWL)-- A decision before board members of the Iowa City School District is on hold after a meeting to decide on which candidate should take over as superintendent.

Our coverage partners at the Iowa City Press Citizen report the board president said during a special meeting Sunday night more time is needed to discuss the issue. They report the earliest the board would vote would be during their regular meeting on Tuesday. Also on the agenda that night, a discussion on redistricting scenarios.

The school board interviewed three candidates for the position last week. Those vying for the job are: Dr. Mark Bezek from Elk River, Minnesota; Brad Meeks from Farmington, Minnesota and Steve Murley from Wasau, Wisconsin.

The new superintendent would start July 1.  Current superintendent Lane Plugge will leave the district in June to take a job in Council Bluffs.
