Johnson County official busted for OWI

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The Executive Director of the Johnson County Communications Center is in hot water after police say he hit and mailbox and admitted to being too drunk to drive.

Michael Patrick Sullivan, 52, was arrested Thursday night at his home.

Someone called police after they saw Sullivan driving erratically and hit a mailbox just after 7:30 Thursday night.

Officers went to his home and that's when police say Sullivan told them that he had too much to drink and didn't realize he hit the mailbox.

According to police, Sullivan's blood alcohol content was measured twice.  The first time it was .256, more than three times the legal limit of .08.

The second time it was .234.

Sullivan was scheduled to appear in Johnson County court on Friday morning.
