Shriners Serve Eastern Iowa Children

The King of this year's Iowa Shrine football game is 7 year-old Ryan Lane of Vinton.

At birth Ryan faced debilitating physical ailments....

"When he was born his head was stuck down to his shoulder and they called it Tortaculos"

"every vertabrae in his back--there is an issue with every vertabrae"

Ryan's parents Dan and Michelle Lane say for the first three years they took their son to dozens of doctors in the area..but many were either afraid to treat him or didn't know how to properly treat him.

That's when the Eastern Iowa Shriners stepped in...helping the Lanes get the medical care Ryan so desperately needs

There are 22 Shriners hospitals located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico including the one in the Twins Cities where Ryan received his care. El Kahir Shrine Potentate Linc Aldershof says all the sacrifice members of his organization puts forth is worth it when they see the smiles on the faces of the families they help.
