Independence Superintendent to resign

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) – The Independence school district will begin searching for a new superintendent next week.

Superintendent Devin Embray told KWWL Friday he will be resigning from Independence and has accepted a position as superintendent in the Glenwood school district in western Iowa.

His resignation is on the agenda at Monday's school board meeting. Also in the agenda is to begin the search for a new superintendent.

Embray tells KWWL it was a difficult decision, but is what's best for his family. He said he is sad about leaving Independence, but knows the district is headed in a good direction. He said he looks forward to seeing someone come in, create new partnerships and move the district to a new level.

Embray's last day at Independence will be June 30th.
