Cyclones Sign Oregon Recruit

Posted:

(Ames)(KWWL) Jordan Railey, a 6-10, 235-pound forward from Beaverton, Ore., signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa State beginning in the 2010-11 season, ISU head coach Greg McDermott announced today.

Railey, who was listed as the third-best center on the West Coast according to Scout.com, averaged 13.9 points and 7.7 rebounds in his senior season for Beaverton High School. Railey led Class 6A (large schools) in blocked shots, swatting away 4.6 shots per game.

"We are very excited to add Jordan Railey to our 2010 recruiting class," McDermott said. "Jordan will add some size and versatility to our front line. He possesses the ability to score the basketball on the block, as well as step out and knock down the perimeter shot. On the defensive end Jordan brings a relentless energy and ability to block and alter shots."

Railey joins November signees DeMarcus Phillips and Melvin Ejim as incoming recruits for the class of 2010. Phillips, the 2008 Wisconsin Player of the Year, will be a junior next season, while Ejim, who was named New Hampshire's Gatorade Player of the Year, will be a freshman.
